Prayer

We will pray, and if you desire we will share the request with our members on Wednesday night at our regularly scheduled prayer meeting.

Here are some sample prayers:

1. Lord forgive me ... cleanse me ... speak to me ...

2. God, I need Your help today ...

3. God, give me Your protection and care as I abandon myself to You, and give up my old ways, and my old ideas today. I pray for humility, and continued opportunity to increase my faith in You. Change me for Your good purpose.

4. "The Serenity Prayer" (in its entirety)

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time,
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
- Amen.

-- By American Theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, 1951

5. Your Will, not mine, be done!

6. Lord, I offer myself to You - to build with me, deal with me, and do with me as You will.
Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Your will.
Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help
of Your power, Your love, and Your Way of life,
May I do Your will always!

7. "The Lord's Prayer" (or the "Model Prayer")

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. - Amen.
